The Second Lebanon war has emphasized the difficult economic reality of Northern Israel and the challenges and priorities for the communities of that region - and for IVN. IVN has determined that it can be most effective in supporting the regional economy by developing the region's most significant component - small and medium businesses. This will be done by implementing a mentoring and lending model to achieve business development and an increase in peripheral employment. The Model is based on and structured around IVN members' high-level managerial experience (which will complement on-site professional business consulting). It further creates partnerships with existing micro-financing loan funds, offering special competitive loans to participating businesses. This Model is called IERI - IVN's Economic Reconstruction Initiative. We are pleased to announce that 12 businesses have recently been identified by IERI to begin the mentoring process. Following is an example of one of the businesses with potential for growth that is in need of IERI assistance:
Mechanical Engineering, Planning & Development
Itai Naim manages the Mechanical Engineering, Planning & Development business that he founded in 2004, after graduating from the Technion - Israel Institute for Technology and after working for several years in the Rafael Armament Development Authority. The business first offered only planning solutions in the field of mechanical engineering, and during the past year and a half expanded to prototype manufacturing, and further to several tailor-made products that he manufactures according to given or self-developed technical specifications.
The market for Itai's products and services are a vast group of companies, in numerous fields - the defense industry, medical equipment, and any other manufacturing company in need of special, tailor-made solutions.
The business is primarily self-funded, and is looking for substantial business development, to expand his capital and to replace his old machines with best-of-breed modern ones, to allow for expansion of offered solutions based on his extensive professional knowledge.
Itai's business now employs 4 employees.
